About health
When purchasing a puppy, we wish him to live long and happily. Of course, we will love our baby and pamper, educate and take care of him.
The basis of a pet’s happiness is its health! This section is about how the owner of a dog can understand that it is unwell and how to provide first aid.

Рoisoning
One of the most unpleasant things a dog can face. In a small puppy, and in an adult dog, there sleeps a hunter. They love to explore the world with their noses and taste their “prey.” Poisonings include: pesticides used in gardens to control pests; spoiled food; various chemicals contained in detergents; medications, including accidental overdose of drugs (anthelmintic); poisoned baits specially scattered on the street; by eating poisonous indoor or outdoor plants.! FIRST AID! In case of any poisoning, it is necessary to act promptly! Induce vomiting, do an enema and go to the veterinarian.
Rat poison (Isoniazid)
The most dangerous poisonings cause internal bleeding and clinical symptoms may not be detected immediately, but on days 2-4. Most often, a dog can get poisoned by eating baits with poison (indandione, warfarin) scattered for rats or the rat carcasses themselves, already poisoned. Coumarin derivatives are antagonists of vitamin K, which, in turn, is involved in the process of blood clotting. These poisonings are considered the MOST DANGEROUS for life! Acute poisoning: bleeding from all natural orifices, bloody urine, bloody stools, shortness of breath, blanching of mucous membranes, vomiting with blood
! FIRST AID!
1. IMMEDIATELY induce vomiting (One of: an aqueous solution of table salt or water and hydrogen peroxide 3% with water 1:1, a pink solution of potassium permanganate is forced into the mouth).
2. Give the dog a cleansing enema
3. Give the dog an adsorbent (Activated carbon, Enterosgel, Polysorb) and if poisoning with rat poison is established, URGENTLY take the pet to a veterinarian — gastric lavage and administration of vitamin K preparations are necessary (if not in the first aid kit!)
Chocolate
Chocolate is something that children and adults love so much; it lifts the mood and improves well-being.
BUT NOT FOR DOGS! Cocoa beans, the main ingredient in chocolate, contain theobromine, a substance that is poisonous to dogs. In its structure, theobromine is very similar to caffeine. Theobromine, like caffeine, has a stimulating effect on the nervous system, increasing wakefulness time.
Symptoms: Excited state
Rapid pulse
Irregular breathing
Extreme thirst
Increased body temperature
Muscle weakness
Decreased blood pressure
Seizures Vomiting, diarrhea, increased gas formation
! FIRST AID! IMMEDIATELY induce vomiting, DO AN ENEMA.
Take to a veterinarian immediately!
Bites
You need to walk a dog a lot and we love to do it! It is especially pleasant to walk through fields and forests. However, there may be another danger lurking here: TICKS and SNAKES. In spring they are especially active and dangerous!
TICKS: If you find a tick on your dog, remove it immediately with tweezers (using a counterclockwise rotation motion). Treat the bite site with chlorhexidine. Particularly dangerous are ixodid ticks, carriers of babeosis (pyroplasmosis), a disease that can be fatal in dogs. This parasite invades the dog’s red blood cells, causing severe anemia. At the slightest suspicion of piroplasmosis: lethargy or loss of appetite, pull down the dog’s lower eyelid and look at the color of the mucous membrane; if it is not pink, but white, it is piroplasmosis. You need to act very quickly! Take PiroStop and inject a dose of 0.2-0.5 ml per 10 kg subcutaneously or into the muscle. + Suprastin or Tavegin intramuscularly or 1 tablet per mouth. If you did not notice this until the stage when the urine darkened and the mucous membranes turned yellow, then the entire dose of pyrostop can no longer be administered, in this case you need to divide the dose into 3-4 parts with several breaks, the entire dose in 1-2 days! It is better to enter a little more than enough than a little less than enough. Intoxication of the dog’s body does not occur from the active substance itself (imidocarb), but from too rapid mass death of Babesia in the blood. You cannot dilute the blood with droppers for piroplasmosis, this only worsens the condition. If, after the administration of PyroStop, the mucous membranes turned pink, and a day later they became too red, and blood vessels appeared on the whites of the eyes, then the tick also infected borreliosis (Lyme disease), then an antibiotic is needed, for example, Doxycycline, for at least 5-7 days
! PREVENTING BITES! Treat the animal with ectoparasitic drugs according to the instructions (drops on the withers; tablets such as Bravecto). When going to the forest, especially in spring, additionally treat with sprays against ticks and other blood-sucking insects.
SNAKES: It is necessary to immobilize the animal (movements carry the poison through the bloodstream). Apply a lymphatic tourniquet: a bandage 2-4 cm wide, applied loosely, so that a finger can pass freely between the skin and the bandage. Apply ice to the bite and swelling to slow blood flow and provide a pain-relieving effect. Give the animal an antihistamine orally or intramuscularly (Suprastin, Tavegil, Dexamethasone) Take the dog to the veterinarian immediately!
Panic attack
Many dogs find it difficult to cope with holiday periods accompanied by fireworks and displays. Some suffer from loud noises when carrying out renovation work. If your pet experiences: rapid breathing and heart rate trembling in the muscles absent-minded, haunted gaze, ears laid back uncontrolled urination, bowel movements howl desire to escape At the first signs, you need to put the dog on a leash* (*if you are not at home), provide a safe place, stay close to the animal without showing bent over anxiety. Dissolve a few drops of Corvalol or Valocordin, Cordiamin in warm water and forcefully give it to the dog. This will relieve increasing anxiety and tachycardia. If the animal does not get better or has a seizure with convulsions, it is necessary to take the pet to the doctor!
Heatstroke
Summer is coming, and that means warm and even hot! In summer, the risk of heatstroke increases. SYMPTOMS:
Lethargy Increased salivation
Blurred vision
Lack of appetite
Heavy breathing with wheezing and whistling
The dog staggers, walks poorly
Temperature above 40° HR
Vomiting, cramps, diarrhea
! HELP! : Remove the collar and muzzle so that the dog can breathe calmly Place the dog in a cool place: shade and cold floor tiles Wipe the animal with cool water. Give water, but not too much and not cold. Take the dog to the veterinarian
! PREVENTION! Do not leave the dog in a closed car in the heat with the air conditioner turned off. Do not walk under the scorching sun, choose the shade. Do not allow your dog, especially a puppy, to actively play and exercise in temperatures above 25 degrees. Cover the dog with a special cooling blanket if it is necessary to stay in the open sun. Wet the dog’s armpits and stomach with cold water from time to time. Give water little by little more often.
Hogweed burns
This annoying weed blooms wildly in summer, causing a lot of trouble for gardeners! But if people know it and avoid it, dogs can often suffer serious burns. Particularly dangerous are the cut stumps of the plant, which secrete poisonous juice and can get on the most vulnerable places — the nose, muzzle, eyes of the pet. If you suspect a “burn” with hogweed, it is important to wash the damaged areas, treat them with chlorhexidine and apply an anti-burn drug, for example, dexpanthenol. The damaged area should be protected from sunlight by covering it with a breathable gauze cloth for 2-4 days. It is very important to exclude the possibility of scratching and licking wounds to avoid infection.
Parting words from the breeder
No matter what unknown situation your pet finds himself in, always know that you can and should help him! If you don’t know how to provide emergency care, create a safe environment for him and take him to a veterinary clinic! Please keep your breeder informed of the difficult situation — he will always make every effort to help you and his graduate! Take care of your dogs, you are everything in their lives!
